I’m recommending low e insulated fiberglass Milgard windows. Pay attention to code requirements for opening sizes (ventilation and egress). Recommend tempering all units. Egress is based on a fireman being able to get in wearing an oxygen pack. Ventilation is 20% of the floor area openable. Remember screens. (Zica). I prefer casements and awnings because they have no center bars to block access or views and o tracks to get filled with dust and gunk.
WINDOW SIZE
Plan ahead. Select your supplier and find their standard sizes. Design around this. Remember that you will loose 2″-3″ of view area all around the perimeter with the sash and frame, so add that to your final desired view area. Pay attention to clearances above counters. Try to align the heads and sills of adjacent elements. This will keep your final home from looking “jumbled”.
