Description

Originally built in the 1980s in beautiful central Marin overlooking Nicasio lake, this hacienda-style home had fallen into disrepair. Originally conceived as a family compound, my client wanted to retain the flexibility, correct several awkward design elements, repair water damage from bad detailing, and rehab the amazing site. The entry sequence was non-existent, with guests wandering the property looking for the entry. This required the creation of a new outer entry TO the courtyard, then a new entry element into the house itself FROM the courtyard. The Great Room had a potential view of the lake blocked by a massive fireplace which was removed. The kitchen was awkward and tiny when compared to the 10 bedroom compound, so it was enlarged. The TV was given its own media room so that the great room could be free of broadcast commentary.
